Bread Price-Fixing Class Action

Victor Lewin - Monday, January 08, 2018

The Competition Bureau is investigating illegal price-fixing of bread products by major supermarket chains in Canada. The conduct is said to have taken place over a nearly 14 year period.

Loblaws issued a statement on December 19, 2017 stating that it was aware of an arrangement involving the coordination of retail and wholesale prices of some packaged breads from late 2001 to March 2015. They stated that the participants regularly increased prices on a coordinated basis, and participants included other major grocery retailers and another bread wholesaler.

Wagners is investigating the potential for a class action lawsuit. If you would like to receive more information, please call 1-800-465-8794 / 902-425-7330 or email
