Recently, the Canadian Minister of Transport and the Parliamentary member representing Bruce -- Grey -- Owen Sound, kicked off North American Safe Boating Awareness Week. Nova Scotia Insurance Clawback Case Settled

The Nova Scotia Department of Community Services announced on April 1 that a settlement had been reached in an insurance clawback case with a woman who suffered catastrophic injuries after being struck by a car in April 1996. The woman was 15 years old at the time of the accident. The terms of the settlement were not disclosed, but the Community Services Minister said that the case had prompted a policy review.

Vehicle Recalls in Nova Scotia

Nova Scotia vehicle owners will have likely received a recall notice at one time or another. Auto manufacturers send out these types of announcements, which are also known as a Notice of Safety Defect, when a defect that could compromise safety has been identified in one of their vehicles. The Motor Vehicle Safety Act requires that this notice include a description of the problem, the potential safety consequences of leaving the defect unrepaired and the steps that vehicle owners can take to have the issue remedied. Repairs are usually performed without charge by authorized dealers.
