Authorities in Halifax report that a 55-year-old man has been injured after he was struck by a car in the Dartmouth mall parking lot. The pedestrian accident took place at about 11 in the morning on Jan. 16. The driver, a 29-year-old woman, apparently hit him with such force that it smashed her vehicle's windshield; she has been cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian.

Hants County Crash Leads to Call For Barriers

A crash on Highway 101 near Falmouth that resulted in one fatality has raised demands for jersey barriers on this section of the road. The car accident was one of several that have taken place at that particular spot between Exits 7 and 8. The highway is scheduled to be twinned, but the start date for that project has not yet been announced.

According to police, a white SUV caused a three-car crash that severely injured two pedestrians before leaving the accident scene. A Halifax Regional Police Constable said that the car accident took place about 2:15 p.m. at Agricola and North in north-end Halifax. Icy roads caused several accidents in HRM on Dec. 10 and 11. On Dec. 10, police responded to 58 accidents, and by 2 p.m. on Dec. 11, they had responded to 37.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene of the car accident on Highway 125 just after 8:00 a.m. The highway was shut down for some time after the wreck while traffic was rerouted.
