A Nova Scotia woman is facing multiple charges in connection with her boyfriend’s death. The fatal accident occurred on March 30 a little past 9 a.m. in Glace Bay on Leslie Lane. The boyfriend was struck by a vehicle and was taken to a Sydney hospital for treatment, where he died on April 5. Police responded to the scene after receiving a report of a man being hit with a car by his girlfriend, who had reportedly left the scene. Officers were able to locate the vehicle and took the woman into custody.
On April 17, the woman was charged with dangerous driving causing death, operating a vehicle in an excessive manner and criminal negligence causing death in the Sydney Provincial Court. The defendant was released on several conditions including that she must avoid Dolphin Crescent in Glace Bay, report to Cape Breton Regional Police once a week and have no contact with the family of the victim.
